Already Dead

ALREADY DEAD

With friends like these who needs enemies
It just so happens our adventures are over
Tonight the stars will burn out
It’s too late to cooperate
I should’ve seen it coming
I burnt all my bridges
I’m not looking back

I’m already dead
I just don’t know it
I know what I said
I swear I didn’t mean it
I’m a lot like you
Tonight the stars will burn out

I’m a casualty of who I used to be
I’m without direction
I can’t stand my reflection
Cause I don’t like what I see
Just like you I’m only passing through
Coming and going
What are you trying to prove?

I’m already dead
I just don’t know it

I know what I said
I swear I didn’t mean it
I’m a lot like you
Tonight the stars will burn out

WHOLE WORLD'S WATCHING

Change occurs when the pain of doing the same thing
Is worse than the fear of change
Isn’t it strange?
The change ain’t happening

This isn’t 1963
And you’d have to be high on L.S.D.
To think this is the land of the free
With it’s income inequality
Hurry up and wait
The whole worlds watching
Waiting for something to happen

Change occurs when the pain of doing the same thing
is worse than the fear of change
Isn’t it strange? The change ain’t happening

You’d have to be blind
To think this is what they had in mind
When they outlined and signed constitution
Here’s your campaign contribution
Hurry up and wait
The whole worlds watching
Waiting for something to happen

Do you need a release?

YOUR SECRETS SAFE WITH ME

You lay down with the dogs
You cherish the fleas

You can’t rinse the taste from your mouth
You can’t pull the scabs off of your knees
When they offered you the cure
You chose the disease

Your secrets safe with me
Your secrets safe with me
How can I forget?
I’m forever in your debt

You say it pulls you close
Yeah it keeps you warm
You spent a fortune on guitars
And put them all in your arm
You bummed a lift into town
With lights and an alarm

Your secrets safe with me
Your secrets safe with me
How can I forget?
I’m forever in your debt
It’s no secret
It whispers your name
It throws you around
It gives you a taste of Heaven
Then it rides you into the ground
There’ a worm in the apple
There’s a snake in the tree
There’s a black cloud hanging
Where your halo used to be

Your secrets safe with me
Your secrets safe with me
How can I forget?
I’m forever in your debt

Your Secrets Safe With Me
Red Envelopes

RED ENVELOPES

There’s a monster incubating inside a teenaged mom

There’s a world outside waiting for him with the atom bomb
There’s a body on the billboard that he’s never gonna get
If it was lying in his bed he wouldn’t know what to do with it
There’s a stack of red envelopes
There’s a list of demands
The blood is on your hands

He’ll use his skateboard as a weapon
He’s gonna have a short fuse
He’ll grow up with holes in his jeans
And dirty white tennis shoes
He’s gonna love the smell of spray paint
He’ll be growing out his hair
He’ll give the world the finger
To show them he don’t care
There’s a stack of red envelopes
There’s a list of demands
The blood is on your hands

There’s bars on the windows, there’s a mattress on the floor
There’s an endless argument on the other side of the door
He’ll put on his headphones to drown out the noise
‘Cause Rock n roll is the only escape
For forgotten teenaged boys
No-one ever listens, no one understands
The blood is on your hands

LEAVE ME IN THE DARK

I was born with blood shot eyes and a broken heart
I have the experience but I‘m not very smart
I was raised on a shoestring
I was thrown to the wolves
I cut my teeth on minor chords
I was trampled under hooves
If love is blind Baby….
Leave me in the dark

You can count on your fingers everyone you’ve ever kissed
You don’t waste your time waiting for things that don’t exist
You choose your weapons
You know when to bite your tongue
Your done dwelling on what they did to you
When you were young
If love is blind Baby
Leave me in the dark
Who knows what we might find…If we knew where to start

Everyone has loose ends baby
Some people can’t let go
The answer to your question is you already know
You can push my buttons
I’ve been waiting here so long
I’ve always know what’s good for me
But I’ve chose to do what’s wrong
Love is blind baby
Leave me in the dark
Who knows what we might find…If we knew where to start
Who knows what we might find…If we knew where to start

Leave Me in the Dark
The Butcher

THE BUTCHER

Who knows how he got out early
Or how he got an extra chance
It’s funny who we meet in the back of an ambulance
Sometimes a fool gets lucky
This time it was with a nurse
Just when things can’t get no worse

So she moved in a stranger
And we could tell it was no good
But mothers do all sorts of things
that their babies don’t think they should
He introduced her to his demons
She started moving in reverse
Just when things can’t get no worse

When they finally found his body
He had laid out there for weeks
Seems he and the butcher knife went dancing
Must have been cheek to cheek
So she started talking crazy bout a pistol in her purse
Just when things can’t get no worse

TWO TICKETS IN A ROOM

By the time they touched down they already had a few
When you’re on vacation I guess that’s just what people do
The checked into a room
They had a couple more
They made love above the blankets
Against the wall and on the floor
Two tickets and a room

They laid by the pool to take in the sun
She flagged down a waitress and said
“I’d like to have another one”
She turned into someone else
Someone he hadn’t known before
She left her purse by the register at the liquor store
She showed him her teeth
The scenario was classic
She broke a heel and walked barefoot
Directly into oncoming traffic
This city never sleeps
She had no idea where she was going
She tore her dress peeing in the bushes
Now half her ass was showing
Two tickets and a room

She told him it was over and went off in all directions
He saved her life more than once
At several uncontrolled intersections
When the police arrived

They had no interest in what he had to say
He found himself in handcuffs
Watching her walk away
Two tickets and a room

The night the lights went out in Vegas

Two Tickets
I'll stick Around

I'LL STICK AROUND

She was standing on the wrong corner
When everything took a turn for the worse
He was driving by so slow
He might have well been going in reverse
She was looking for a free ride
He was looking for a hole to fill
She said “don’t you try and hold me here against my will”
And I’ll stick around, ‘til something better, comes along

She’s wise beyond her years
And her lies he believed
She used to have friends in high places
‘til they asked her to leave
She woke up feeling hallow
To another line in the sand
He’s putty in her idle hands
She said I’ll stick around, ‘til something better, comes along

He pretended he was sleeping
He heard her whisper into the phone
She said “I feel so alone”
“I can’t take it any longer”
He thought he could impress her
She picked her clothes up off the floor
She grabbed his wallet off the dresser
She gave him more than he bargained for
She said I’ll stick around, ‘til something better, comes along

CAPITAL T

You’re easy on the eyes baby
Yeah you’re wise beyond your years
I say that I’d like to call it a night
You’d like to stay until my money disappears
I have to wake up early and I think we can agree
That I’ll never get a good night sleep
With you lying here next to me

You’re making it hard
Hard on me
You’re a temptress
It’s torture
You’re trouble baby
With a capital T

You’re only getting started
Yeah you’re only shifting gears
You want a beat you can dance to
I like the songs that bring the cowboys to tears
So I’ll lay awake with worry
Wondering where you’ve been
You’ll be dancing ‘til the sun comes up
I don’t know if I’ll see you again

You’re making it hard
Hard on me
You’re a tyrant
It’s torture
You’re trouble baby
With a capital T

A PLACE LIKE THIS

Her smile was an invitation, to start a conversation,
I moved in closer wearing, too much cologne
I asked her If she came here often, if she might like a drink
I said “I think we should find some place

where we can be alone”
She said “I must be going.”
So I grabbed her by the wrist
I said “What’s a girl like you doing alone in a place like this?”

I was in need of her attention, so I decided I should mention
That if she felt like dancing, there was room on the floor
I said “Let’s spend some time together.”
“Let’s get to know each other”
“I feel like maybe we’ve met someplace before”
A more fabulous dancer did not exist.
“What’s a girl like you doing alone in a place like this”

I longed for a connection, I spun her in all directions
And feeling light on her feet is what she enjoys the most
While I admiring her clear complexion
I came across my lonely reflection
I realized that I had been dancing
Not with a woman but with a ghost
So I pulled myself together, hoping no one noticed
“What’s a man like me doing dancing
alone in a place like this?”

A Place Like This

INDEPENDENCE DAY

The honeymoon is over
The headache’s returned
The feeling is mutual
As far as I’m concerned
The novelty has worn off
The story’s getting old
The decision is final
This bed is cold

Don’t let me stand in your way
This is independence day
I’ve got the feeling that I’ve been here before
This isn’t love

This is war

She’ll ask me what’s the matter
I’ll tell her it’s all right
‘Cause I don’t want to talk about it
No, I don’t want to fight
I can crawl through the ashes
In search of what once was
Nobody knows me the way that she does

Don’t let me stand in your way
This is independence day
I’ve got the feeling that I’ve been here before
This isn’t love
This is war

And I want more
