Collecting Dust

Collecting Dust

It’s gone quiet in the streets

I’m in the shape of things to come

The entire city’s gone to sleep

The cold air burns inside my lungs

I lost you like a snowflake on my tongue

I tried to settle down & dig myself a grave

I’ve got dirt under my nails

I’ve got a soul that can’t be saved

We’re alone in this dark world

Where men do what they must

So I hope you’re not expecting me to sit around

Collecting dust

When I’m alone with just my thoughts

That’s when the wheels begin to turn

My heart knows you never left

My body waits for your return

The bulb has burned out of forever

I’m still waiting will I ever learn

You’re the hammer I’m the nail

I’m about to lose my head

I won’t go into detail

Cause I don’t want to raise the dead

I’m alone in this dark world

Where men do what they must

So I hope you’re not expecting me to sit around
