Band-Aid on a Bullet Hole
Band Aid On a Bullet Hole
I fed the horses fallen apples
Through a break I found in the barbed wire
In their eyes I saw a death and in their warm breath
I felt what was a fire
When you found me crawling through the ashes
You helped me tie my love into a noose
And when the smoke cleared I had traded in the years
For this excuse
We held on to each other
Like two pages stuck together
I ain’t ever letting you go
I’m a band aid on a bullet hole
Nature never asked me for permission
And memories don’t ask to become lies
Like the ghosts of my past my life began to flash
Before my eyes
Only you can hold my attention
Don’t be afraid to ask me where I’ve been
The full moon shines through the blinds, leaving soft lines
On your skin
We held on to each other
Like two pages stuck together
I ain’t ever letting you go
I’m a band aid on a bullet hole
What part of me are you taking with you?
What part will you leave me when you go?
I know I’ve done you wrong
But wasn’t that a long time ago?
